Sky Stories: Star Legends of the Haudenosaunee

Join us for a special, family-friendly evening celebrating the living night sky. Long before modern telescopes mapped the cosmos, the stars served as an enduring record of history, culture, and science. Through the powerful art of storytelling and a rich visual presentation, guest speaker Ja:no’s Bowen will explore the profound significance of well-known constellations, like the Pleiades, and reveal how these celestial patterns carry a legacy that spans generations.

Ja:no's Bowen is a member of the Beaver clan of the Seneca Nation, a Faith Keeper of the Cold Spring Longhouse, and a dedicated leader in Seneca language and culture reclamation.

Come experience this unique cultural perspective, meet the astronomy team, and participate in a post-talk Q&A. The evening concludes with guided facility tours and—if skies are clear—public viewing opportunities through the observatory's large-aperture telescopes! Admission is free (donations gratefully appreciated). The event is held live in person and streamed via Zoom.
