Nature Attractions (12)

Nature abounds throughout Chautauqua County with trails, beaches, migration flyways, creeks, and a gorge that winds eight miles from Mayville to Lake Erie. Visit the French Creek Preserve, one of the most biologically diverse waterways in the northeast. Stand in awe of giant rock formations at Panama Rocks or kayak down meandering rivers and streams. Thermal currents and flyways along Lake Erie, heavily forested areas, wetlands and open fields provide ideal conditions for birders. Visit the Roger Tory Peterson Institute for wildlife art and photography exhibits and the Audubon Center south of Jamestown for year ‘round programs and nature store.
